The CollegeBound Journey

In this lesson, participants will get a comprehensive overview of CollegeBound Saint Paul, a program offered by the City of Saint Paul. Participants will also learn about and receive educational and supportive resources that can help parents and caregivers equip their child to navigate the financial system and establish sustainable wealth-building skills from early childhood to high school.

About Lesson

Participants will leave the workshop with the knowledge of the basics of CollegeBound, as well as an understanding of different potential accounts/strategies for long-term saving and saving. We are treating this lesson as an opportunity for parents to build capacity to lead wealth justice/financial trauma-informed  conversations in their households throughout  their child’s life on the range of topics CollegeBound touches.

During this lesson you can expect to:

  • Introduce what CollegeBound is, who it's for, how to get involved, and why it's important
  • Describe how CollegeBound benefits children and families from birth to age 18
  • Share resources, suggested conversations, and actions parents can take with their children to advance wealth justice
  • Help parents start thinking about an action plan to help financially prepare their child for the future and contribute to their development and success
